The penalties for both
failure to file
and failure to pay
are more severe than the
penalty for failure to pay only,
SO...,
EVEN if you can't pay,
FILE the return anyway. |

IRS
E-FILE INFORMATION
IRS e-file means FAST REFUNDS in half the time
as when filing on paper
(usually within 10-17 days with Direct Deposit).
Direct Deposit is not required to e-file. There is no charge for Direct
Deposit.
If someone is charging a fee for Direct Deposit, they are
breaking the law.
IRS e-file is faster and more accurate than filing a paper return,
so youre less likely to receive an error notice from the IRS.
If you do receive a notice, bring it in;
I'll see what I can do to
help.
Got a
balance due on your federal tax return?
You may now pay it by
personal check, money order, or Credit Card.
Yes, that's right, credit
card.
The US Treasury Dept. has entered into an agreement with
two providers for this service.
1-800-2PAYTAX (www.officialpayments.com)
and
1-888-ALLTAXX (www.about1888ALLTAXX.com)
(For local persons, this is NOT the same business
as All Tax, Inc. located in Reedsville, WV)
You
may contact the above credit card providers and pay over the phone or on the
Internet.
The
only catch is that there is a 2.5% "convenience" fee.
(The
IRS is prohibited by law from paying "merchant" fees. Merchant fees
are usually charged to the company who accepts credit card payments.)
You may use the above credit card services to pay your:
Federal balance due or
Federal extension payment or
Federal Tax estimates.
